This is Finola, who shares a household with Morgan in Tucson, Arizona.

Do you think Finola has enough toys?

Morgan tells me that, “She’s very particular…. Oddly enough, her absolute favorite toy is a toilet paper roll. She can’t get enough of them.”

  1. LOL. I got a Maltese in December and she has been collecting toys ever since. She loves stuffed dogs especially!

  2. Finola is so cute! And what a pretty name. I can never get over how we spend hundreds of dollars on toys and they still prefer playing with the recycling. 🙂

    1. Ha, ha! A friend with a greyhound has the same favorite toy, so for her birthday I brought over a gift-wrapped toilet paper roll. It was a huge hit!

  3. We LOVE toilet paper rolls, to-go coffee cups and paper towel rolls. Easy peasy. Mom just has to sweep more often :). from the hounds at Silverwalk

  4. Hi Y’all,

Finola must be related to the little boy with all kinds of store bought toys but preferred a tin can and two sticks. He grew up to be a drummer in a band. Wonder what Finola will end up doing?

    Y’all come by now,

  5. Of course not, she needs more! You can never have enough toys. Just remember we doggies have a very loose definition of what constitutes a toy. Better to give us a broad range of our own or we’ll discover some of yours. I think Mama reading glasses are an excellent chew toy. She decided to substitute a rubber bone instead. I can live with that.
    Your Pal,
    Opie.

    Just Hopping by.

Come by and see me if you like. 🙂

  6. I agree that a dog cannot have too many toys! I like socks from the laundry basket, anything from a wastebasket and just leave a tissue around. GONE. I once ate Mom’s Bluetooth, but that was the only time I got to enjoy a really expensive toy! So, go for the toilet tissue rolls. Hmmmm. I wonder if I’d like them? Pretty tasty, I bet!

  7. I like how most of Finola’s stuffies look to be the same size as her!

My foster dog, Sinatra, was rescued from a breeding facility and has no clue what to do with toys. I picked up this trick as a volunteer at the humane society – put some treats inside a toilet paper roll and crumple the ends and you have an engaging and yummy toy for a bored dog. I use bits of hot dog and string cheese and Sinatra LOVES to shred the roll and scarf the snacks. I call it cheese dog on a TP roll!

A few years ago, I went to an open house and the realtor had brought her toddler with her. The little girl was sitting on the empty living room floor, unrolling a toilet paper roll and having a complete blast. I always think of that when I’m buying baby shower gifts. Someday I’m going to have the guts to just buy a jumbo pack of TP and wrap it up!
