For "Beatles" substitute "Mutts"

Fellow bloggers Peggy Frezon, Pup Fan and I had so much fun last week playing Name That Breed that we decided to turn it into a blog hop: The Magical Mystery Mutt Tour. Next Friday, February 4, at 12.01 midnight EST I’m going to put up a Linky tool and anyone who wants to post about their amazing mixed breed for group analysis — or just bragging rights — is welcome to join in. No pressure, no deep thoughts. Mixed Breed Owners Just Wanna Have Fun.

I’m looking forward to giving Frankie his due for being a unique blend of… well, I don’t know, but I’m going to have fun reporting on the various guesses that have been hazarded about his parentage over the years. And posting plenty of cute pictures.

Well, at least two. Also post vital characteristics such as height and weight, and personality traits that may give a clue.

P.S. I don’t know about you, but I’d forgotten just how weird — and in a goofy as opposed to deep or psychedelic way — that Beatles album cover is. The (oh so appropriate to this post) mutt in the middle of the top row… the walrus (koo koo ka chu)… and what are those other creatures supposed to be?

Update: The generous and obviously tech savvy blogger at Ruff Toy Reviews has agreed to make a badge for this tour! Stay tuned for the code….

  1. Moxie is all over this one! She wants her 15 minutes of fame! We’re in… and if you still need a badge code, let me know and I can do it tomorrow (Saturday).

Great idea for a blog hop!

    1. Oh yes — badge code, badge code, badge code! Thank you so much for offering! You can even put Moxie’s picture on it….

  2. Sounds like a lot of fun, we would like to send an entry too! As Kenzo and Viva don’t qualify πŸ™ is it alright we cheat a little and feature an owner of a mixed breed on our blog? I promise it will be difficult to guess πŸ™‚

    1. That sounds like fun, Carrie! I’m afraid I don’t have any football themed items — and Frankie says he’s not good with organized sports. If you ever have a cowboy themed hop, however, my lone ranger is there!

  3. Wow, what an awesome idea. My Frankie will be in on the fun:) Thanks for coming up with the idea and hosting it!

  4. My Tashi, rescue that he is, doesn’t qualify for this but I’m gonna have fun checking out all the entries! Love the idea and Kristine got it right – you are *so* creative and you think up stuff to do that’s a blast:)

    1. Just to clarify for those who may be as confused as I am: It’s not that Tashi is a rescue but the fact that you know what breed he is that disqualifies him, right? Most of the people who will be taking part in the tour have rescue dogs.

  5. Ok Edie. I know what’s going on here.

You’ve learned how to use linky tools and you just can’t get enough of them, can you? Enjoy your fun. But remember that you have other responsibilities in life. If it gets to be too much to handle, your blogging buddies will stage an intervention and tell you to step away from the linky tools.

Just kidding. This looks like lots of fun. I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with.

Perhaps you could get one of the DNA testing companies to sponsor you and provide a test kit to a puppy selected at random?

    1. Funny you should mention the Linky addiction, Pamela! I’ve been thinking something similar — except that I still haven’t figured out how to get myself on a Linky tool and schedule it, with a post, for publication. Any of you blog hop creators know? Last time I was 15th on my and Amy’s blog hop!

I believe it’s what happens when you commit in public to writing a book. If you are like me, you will do everything in your power to avoid the actual writing.

As for the DNA testing, from your ears to a DNA testing company! I tweeted one or two a while back asking to be sent a kit to test but was roundly ignored. If any of you are reading this, I’m asking again. Pamela too!

  6. Since *everyone* knows that Jersey is a Vizsla, I didn’t think I could participate. BUT I have a picture of my childhood doggie, Princess and she was a mixed breed!! YAY, see you on Saturday!!

    1. Good! I think it’s terrific that you’re submitting another dog and I encourage all who know their current dog’s breed to follow your example. But you’ll see us on Friday (the 4th) not Saturday.

  7. While I have some “interesting” mixes around here I even have a papered dog no one seems to be able to identify as others of her breed.
I will do my best to get some photos taken and join in.

    1. I’m printing your MMT announcement and dropping it off at Wilson’s day care. He plays with a lot of other mystery dogs.

  8. What a great title and idea. I don’t have a mixed breed but have had many… and as well, train many. Such great traits and individual personalities in these dogs.

The variety of life. Love it.

  9. I would love to play, but for perhaps one of the few times in my life, I actually have two very recognizable breeds – a Lab and a Sheltie.

So, I will participate in the way I love best! As a Guesser! πŸ™‚
I’m pretty good most of the time, so this will be a true test. I can’t wait!

  10. Hi Everyone-I’m obviously a bit confused-is this a blog hop? if so where’s the linky tool and the list?
Duh??? I’ve written my post but not published it yet…

    1. There is something weird going on. You’re not the only one who hasn’t been able to find the Linky tool on my site. I can’t explain why. Most people see it. In any case, go to one of my co-hosts sites. You’ll find it there.

      1. Another thought: Did you click through to the end of the post with the “More” link? The first person who had a problem swears she did but maybe you didn’t?
