We should all buy stock in the Thundershirt company, if it ever goes public. My friends Rod and Amy Burkert at GoPetFriendly.com just finished a Thundershirt giveaway contest — sorry, they have a winner — that elicited raves about the product.ย  Caleb, pictured here, and his person, Jillian, swear by it too as a cure for separation anxiety.

Caleb and Frankie live opposite lives. Whenever we see them on the trail, Caleb is outgoing and lively, Frankie timid and retiring.ย  But Caleb gets stressed when he’s left behind at home, to the point that he needs a calming shirt, while Frankie is perfectly fine with my comings and goings, though he clearly prefers the former.

This is where I know I’m supposed to say something sage about books and their covers or animal behavior… but I’m not sure what this signifies. I’ll leave you instead with one of my favorite Brooklynisms: Go figure.

Have you voted for me for Funniest Blogger on DogTimes Petties site yet — or yet today? Why not? The dogs and cats of the Southern Arizona Humane Society, to whom I will donate the $1000 if I win, are depending on you. (Yes, you’ve stepped outside the boundaries of the guilt-free zone here.)

  1. If ever I could get the cats to wear a Thundershirt I would get one for them -such a great product! We’ll soon to be moving house and I wonder if it would help for that too ๐Ÿ™‚ I was fortunate to meet them at Superzoo last year and they are great people!

    1. Oh, good — I’m glad to hear that they’re nice people; I thought they would be but you never know. Maybe they’ll make a kitties version…?

      1. Very interesting article, Pamela; thanks for the link. I never knew TTouch was associated with body wraps; I thought it was just massage.

  2. I briefly read about Thundershirts on one of my dog Facebook groups. They were, of course, discussing it in relation to thunderstorms. I never thought of using it as a tool for separation anxiety! Great idea! Caleb seems to like his shirt! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Caleb is very fond of his shirt, I’ve been told. And yes, it apparently works for all kinds of anxiety. Thanks for coming by!

  3. A friend owns a pet products store. Both she and I have only heard how great Thundershirts work. I need two..
BTW, Caleb looks almost exactly like my Margie – I think she is a Border Terrier mix :).

    1. Caleb often has a little Mohawk. He’s very cute. I’ll let Jillian know that he has a lookalike in Margie.

    1. Ha, ha! It also looks very cute on Frankie, kind of like the Dog in the Gray Flannel Suit, but so far I can’t do a testimonial for the product, so I let Caleb be the spokesdog. Thanks for stopping by!

  4. Caleb is adorable! I’m glad the Thundershirt is helping with his separation anxiety. We’ve found Buster’s Thundershirt to help with everything from riding in the Winnebago to reacting on leash to other dogs.
