  1. LOL! I love it when you do these posts. They always make me laugh because of your clever commentary about them. After your first post, I actually started reading my spam. My conclusion? We have the same spammers. 🙂

    Thanks for the giggles Edie.

    1. Then you must have an irresistible urge to buy Ugg boots too…

I’m so happy for you and Lady — and it’s wonderful to have you back, reading blog posts and laughing!

  2. You apparently are getting a much higher class of spammers than the full page of Russian gibberish I sometimes receive. I had to laugh at some of yours! At least there’s a variety…..

  3. LOL! Yep. Bloggers give away a lot of free stuff—-helpful information, free professional advice, amusing musings—I could go on. How about a blog named: “Starving Blogger”?

  4. @melf – I shared Lady’s “final” story on my FB page as we had many people here in MO cross-posting. I grew up in Mpls so was fun to see WCCO again and hear about Egan. So, so glad she was found!
Edie, those spammers are and always will be bizarre and hilarious….thanks for sharing and for sparing ut the Russian ones :).

  5. Boy that last line really made me laugh out loud@! too true…I’m impressed by all your spamfrinds.

here’s some recent stories I wrote where I’m now earning about minimum wage, or less if I take too much time:

A crowd-pleaser for non-sports fans: “A rookie covers the Tip-Off Classic” aka “Oy vey is Yiddish for Yaadila” http://www.navajotimes.com/sports/2011/1111/112311tipoff.php

if you’re in to horse racing: 18-yr. old Navajo jockey goes pro http://www.navajotimes.com/sports/2011/1111/112811jockey.php

And just this week’s, if you’re into politics – actually every state is fighting and it all will have ramifications for the 2012 election…if we still have a political system. : “Redistricting Fight Comes to Navajo Nation”
    http://www.navajotimes.com/politics/2011/1211/120111redistrict.php

beginning to feel, I’d rather be writing about our cute furry animal children! though somehow I notice it’s just as hard to stay away from the tough issues – what a world we live in!

  6. Brilliant post! Here’s one of mine for you:

Nice post. I was checking constantly to this blog & I am so impressed! It is extremely useful information, especially the 4th sentences. I really want such information. I was looking for this kind of knowledge for weeks. Thanks and best of luck.

Now I’m going to have to go back and read every 4th sentence of my posts and see what I wrote!

  7. Edie,

Pam Webster’s husband Mike here. Pam sent me to your blog today just to read this post. It is truly hysterical. In fact, it sort of feels that you’re doing any distinctive trick. 🙂

    1. Thanks for coming by, Mike. I hope you know your comment — by proxy — about neutering scars on my post about unnatural natural treatments was chosen as the funniest, ever. Admittedly the judging panel was small and informal but you should still be proud.

  8. Terrific, Edie. But you mean you don’t get the ones that say that beautiful Russian women are waiting to meet you? Or that you can enlarge your…. well, you know… (if you have one, that is.) 🙂

    1. Ha, I never thought of spam as something to aspire to — and Blogger spam may be totally different — but here’s to many thrilling occasions for you!

  9. Edie,

Thanks for giving all of us such a huge chuckle. I was laughing so hard that tears were pouring down my cheeks. I don’ t know how you were able to mangle our language so well, all the way sounding sincere about it And that was the kicker.

    Very best wishes

    Barbara D. Brill
    (I don’t have a blog. I just have a web site instead.)

    1. Glad I could give you a laugh, Barbara. I wish I could take credit for the humorous language mangling. That came direct from my spam bin, unretouched (though sometimes shortened). Some of those spammers can go on and on.

  10. I’m going to start telling everyone that their content is masterwork.

My personal favorite from your list, however, has to be “You put the lime in the coconut and drink the article up.”

  11. Funny. I get comments like that too. Here I thought I was special 🙂

And as a matter of fact, for some reason my comments have been going to people’s spam box lately. My comments are way less entertaining I am sure 🙂

    1. Ha — that’s exactly what happened, Jessica. Your comments ended up in my spam filter. I haven’t been examining it as closely since I put up that post!

  12. Thanks a-mundo for this excellent post! You have wowed me with your knowledge. Life will never be the same again.

I actually never check my spam so if real comments are getting stuck there, I’d never know it. Oops. One more thing I need to incorporate into my schedule!

What I have noticed lately, and it was brought to my attention by Pamela on FB, is that more and more spam comments are sounding like real comments. More and more of them are sneaking through the filter. Over the weekend I caught several spam comments, noticeable by the URLs, that actually even mentioned the names of dogs owned by some of my regular readers. Very sneaky, they are becomming!

    1. Yes, some spammers are very sophisticated, Kristine. I’m always amazed when they use my name and, sometimes, Frankie’s (though I don’t think I’ve noticed any dogs owned by commenters).

If there is a comment that seems within the realm of normal to me, I’ll sometimes do something sneaky: Remove Commentluv and the url, so no one can link to the spammer. That way I still seem popular but I’m not giving away any free links!

  13. A really informationrmative post and lots of actually honest and forthright comments produced! This undoubtedly got me thinking a whole lot about this concern so cheers a whole lot for dropping! 430091
