Pet Blogger Challenge Jan. 10Last week Amy Burkert of Go Pet Friendly and I gave you a heads up that we are going to co-host the Pet Blogger’s Challenge again. We promised to post the questions on December 20 and we’re women of our word.

Just a couple of things:

  • It’s very easy. All you have to do is post the answers to the questions on your site on Jan. 10 and  —  assuming you want others to be able to read them– add your post’s url to the Linky tool, which will go up at midnight, January 9, EST. Never used a Linky tool? Here’s an example of what it’ll look like. You can even enter a practice link if you have a fun picture to share.
  • You don’t have to post the Pet Blogger Challenge badge on your site; it just serves as a public pledge that you’re committed to taking part — and that you’re very cool. If you want to, you can grab the code from the badge in my right margin. If you don’t know how to do that, ask Amy. (Just kidding. Kind of.)
  • There are two sets of questions, one for bloggers who participated last year, one for newbies. You know who you are.
  • Procrastinate at your peril. It takes a while to answer these questions thoroughly (signed: She Who Knows From Procrastination)

Okay, here goes:

Challenge Questions #1: For bloggers who haven’t participated before

1. When did you begin your blog?

2. What was your original purpose for starting a blog?

3. Is your current purpose the same?

If not, what’s different?

If so, how do you feel you’ve met your goals?

4. Do you blog on a schedule or as the spirit moves you?

If the former, how often — and what techniques do you use to stick to it?

If the latter, do you worry about… well, whatever you might worry about (e.g. losing traffic, losing momentum)?

5. Are you generating income from your blog?

If so, how (e.g. sponsor ads, affiliate relationships, spokesperson opportunities)?

If not currently, do you hope to in the future — and how?

6. What do you like most about blogging in general and your blog in particular (bragging is good!)?

7. What do you like least?

8. How do you see your blog changing/growing in 2012?

Challenge Questions #2: For those who participated last year:

1. Provide a link to your post from last year’s Pet Blogger Challenge so we can refresh our memories.

2. What do you consider the most important goals you set out in last year’s post?

3. Have you made progress toward those goals, or have your goals changed over the past year?

4. Has your opinion of blogging on a schedule or as the spirit moves you changed? Which are you doing now? Do you still worry about lost traffic, momentum, etc?

5. Are you generating income from your blog? Has this changed since last year?

If you are generating income, how (e.g. sponsor ads, affiliate relationships, spokesperson opportunities)?

If not currently, do you hope to in the future — and how?

6. Have your likes and dislikes about blogging changed since last year?

7. Overall, are you pleased with the progress you made in 2011?

8. How do you see your blog changing/growing in 2012?

  1. Glad you spent the time to create a new set of questions for alums. I’m really looking forward to reading everyone’s responses again this year.

Thanks so much to you and Amy for pulling this together. It was such a great event last year.

  2. I copied my questions (newbie) into a post as I reflect on the answers. I have the badge. titled “I’m Cool” ~ Edie. HA. Am ready if I don’t forget! This will be fun. Thanks to you and Amy.

  3. This will be great timing for me, just a few days short of my 1 year Blogoversary! I can’t wait to reflect on where we’ve been and where I want to go. Thank you for hosting this!

  5. I can’t remember if I participated last year, so I must go and look:) I’ll be out tomorrow most of the day, yep – huge procrastinator here – but thanks for the reminder!

    1. You have to take the code that’s given for you to copy, switch to the html section of your — the tab that isn’t the visual part — and place the code underneath your blog post and save it. That’s for WordPress.org (self-hosted) blogs. I’m clueless about the other formats, sorry!

  6. Never heard of this before! Pretty cool. Think I did everything right, if not, it was fun anyway. Thanks!! This will be fun to read everyone’s answers.
    Cheers!
